Jürgen Klopp will depart Liverpool at the end of the season, and the Premier League club is attempting to find his replacement.
Rúben Amorim, the current manager of Sporting CP, is a candidate for the Anfield position. Recent reports suggest that the Reds may face competition from Barcelona.
Sport has the most up-to-date information on the La Liga club’s stance on the Liverpool managerial target.
According to reports in Portugal, Deco is delighted with Amorim’s style of play at Sporting, which he compares to that of Barcelona. However, Sport claims the 39-year-old has dropped off their list owing to a lack of top-level expertise and, most importantly, the hefty expense of acquiring him.
Amorim began his coaching career at Casa Pia in 2018 and later worked at SC Braga before joining Sporting in March 2020. His contract with the Lions runs until 2026 and includes a €20 million provision for clubs outside Portugal.
Barcelona does not want to pay that, and Sport reports that the Spanish club believes he is on his way to Liverpool to replace Klopp.
As a result, the following weeks will be critical for both Liverpool and the manager in making a final choice.
